According to Jon Rothstein, former Kentucky player Mark Pope is now a candidate for the program’s head coaching job. Pope just finished up his fifth season at BYU. He just led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament and has a 110–52 (.679) record. In his nine-year head coaching career, Pope has a record of 187–108 (.634) at BYU and Utah Valley State. John Calipari stepped down as Kentucky head coach this afternoon after 15 seasons at the helm. “We’ve loved it here, but we think it’s time for us to step away…and step away completely from the program,” Calipari said of Kentucky.
