Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning is more comfortable heading into the 2024 season.
Browning was the starting quarterback for the final seven games of the 2023 season after he had to replace Joe Burrow. Burrow went down with a wrist injury during the November 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens and had to have surgery on it.
Burrow is fully healthy heading into the 2024 season but Browning still feels like he’s better prepared to help Burrow this year compared to last year.
“There’s those conversations that, I was always helpful before, but there’s a whole ‘nother (level) of, hey, I’ve been in this offense and I’ve had to be the trigger guy. So when he has some concern or something, I can relate and we can have that conversation. So I think that’s been really good,” Browning said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk).
Browning finished the season with 1,936 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. His play also earned him another contract with the team since they liked what they saw.
He helped the Bengals finish 9-8 and kept them in the playoff race until the end of the season.
In a perfect world, Burrow stays healthy for the entirety of the 2024 season but the Bengals have to feel good about having Browning as his backup.
