It’s been a disastrous season for Money Mac.
The Cincinnati Bengals are making a change at kicker, though it’s not due to the struggles of Evan McPherson this season.
Instead, it’s due to a groin injury that will sideline McPherson for several weeks, according to Mike Garafolo.
In addition, Garafolo reports that Cincinnati is adding former Cleveland Browns and Washington Commanders kicker Cade York to the practice squad.
#Bengals K Evan McPherson is expected to miss a few weeks with a groin injury, sources say. Not a season-ender or any surgery required but he will miss some time. The team worked out veteran options today. pic.twitter.com/UtqDIWksPV

And the winner of the #Bengals workout: Cade York. The former #Browns and #Commanders kicker is being added to Cincy’s practice squad, sources say. He’s in line to kick while Evan McPherson is sidelined. pic.twitter.com/cWhLzCVSgm

Thankfully, Garafolo makes it sound like McPherson’s injury isn’t serious. But with the season winding down and just five games remaining, the Bengals should be cautious about bringing McPherson back too soon. The last thing he needs is a significant injury that leads to surgery and/or an extended offseason absence.
You also have to wonder how long this injury has been brewing and if it’s had any effect on McPherson’s poor season.
Either way, Cade York is the top kicker for the time being.
