The Cincinnati Bengals quietly announced a roster move on Tuesday that could fall firmly in the underrated category.
There, the Bengals announced the re-signing of tight end Cam Grandy on a one-year deal.
Since Grandy was an exclusive rights free agent, the news wasn’t all that shocking.
But it is notable for a tight end depth chart potentially about to lose Mike Gesicki in free agency. Retaining Grandy means keeping long-term upside alongside Erick All, Tanner Hudson and Tanner McLachlan.
Notably, Grandy took a big upswing in playing time during the last month or so of the season and was on the receiving end of praise from Joe Burrow and others.
Now, Grandy can slot into a Drew Sample-styled niche and compete over the summer while keeping depth for the team at a strong suit.
