The G.O.A.T.(?) weighs in.
It isn’t hard to find the takes about the Cincinnati Bengals’ 1-4 start flying around the internet and on your television. Some right, some wrong and a few just downright silly.
The Bengals know they have issues. The media knows they have issues. The fans know they have issues.
Former New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick has seen a thing or two. From struggles coaching the Cleveland Browns to a dynasty in New England, “The Hoodie” has pretty much seen it all, and he weighed in on Cincinnati’s struggles during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“The Bengals are sitting there probably going they’re the best 1-4 team in football but they gotta start putting some wins up soon..
They obviously gotta play better defense and make the plays that you gotta make”

“The Bengals are sitting there probably going they’re the best 1-4 team in football but they gotta start putting some wins up soon,” Belichick said. “They obviously gotta play better defense.”
Belichick didn’t put all of the blame on the Bengals defense, though. He also mentioned Joe Burrow’s fumble against the Kansas City Chiefs that went the opposite way for a touchdown and the missed field goal on a muffed snap last week.
While the offense has had some misfires, the scoring output from the unit should be enough to bring you one win against maybe the worst team in the NFL in the Carolina Panthers.
The Bengals have their next four games on the schedule that can and should be wins. A Sunday Night Football matchup with the New York Giants, followed by a trip to take on the Cleveland Browns, before a two-game home stand against the Philadelphia Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders.
With how the Bengals’ offense is playing and how those teams have struggled, there is a real chance they reel off four straight victories and end up right back in the thick of things. For that to happen, however, the defense will need to improve fast.
Belichick seems to think they are just a few plays away, so will the luck finally fall in their favor? We’ll see it on Sunday night, with the whole world watching.
