Former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco thinks he might have cracked the NFL “script” for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans next year.
On the latest episode of his podcast with Shannon Sharpe, the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver pointed out that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase both played at LSU – in the same state as New Orleans. He believes that the NFL wants that kind of story to help lead them into the big game.
“Where did Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase went to school?” he asked, drawing a “lord have mercy” from Sharpe. “You see where I’m going? These are the kinds of stories the NFL likes and loves… LSU. You’re from Ohio, but you played your collegiate bowl at LSU. Super Bowl is in New Orleans!”
Glossing over the fact that LSU doesn’t actually play in New Orleans and actually plays in Baton Rouge, it would certainly be a nice homecoming for Burrow and Chase.
Lest we forget, Burrow, Chase and Justin Jefferson helped form one of the greatest football teams of all time: The 2019 LSU Tigers. They ran roughshod over the best of the best in college football en route to winning the national championship.
Since reuniting with the Cincinnati Bengals, the duo have been one of the league’s best. Burrow is one of the highest-paid players in NFL history, while Chase is a perennial 1,000-yard receivers and a three-time Pro Bowler.
Do you think the Bengals will be playing in the Super Bowl next year?
