This would certainly be a game-changer for the offense.
It is pretty clear the Cincinnati Bengals have multiple positions to address this offseason from the coaching staff to the roster.
It is also safe to assume that a large majority of the focus this offseason will be on the defensive revamp in Cincinnati.
While that is likely a safe assumption, the tight end position is currently up in the air for what feels like the fourth straight offseason.
I am a huge fan of bringing back Mike Gesicki on a reasonable deal. Although he is more of a receiving TE, the blocking is made up for with Drew Sample.
ESPN’s Ben Solak has other plans for the Bengals this offseason and has quite a unique prediction.
Solak believes Cincinnati will trade for former fourth-overall Atlanta Falcons pick Kyle Pitts.
“Tight end Kyle Pitts is due $10.8 million on the final year of his deal in 2025. Can the Falcons get more for him in a trade than they would in a compensatory pick after he leaves in free agency? I think they could, as he has a rosier future on an offense that actually fits his skill set. My prediction: Pitts will get dealt to the Bengals for a Day 3 pick,” Solak stated.
The former Florida Gators standout has struggled in Atlanta since being drafted back in 2021, but if there is one quarterback that can get tight end production going it is Joe Burrow.
Burrow has become the tight end career saver from CJ Uzomah to Hayden Hurst to Mike Gesicki, so this would seemingly be great news for Pitts, who hasn’t lived up to his top-five draft pick billing but has still shown plenty of potential.
In 61 career games (55 starts), Pitts has 196 catches for 2,651 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had 47 grabs for 602 yards and four scores last season.
