Still too early to panic.
We now have an update from Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.
According to Taylor, Chase’s absence from the first two days was planned all along. However, Taylor wouldn’t clarify whether this was contract-related or if Chase would practice on Friday.

We’re on to Friday.
As Ja’Marr Chase looks to get a long-term contract extension, the Cincinnati Bengals wideout has yet to practice thus far in training camp.
After sitting on the sideline for Wednesday’s opener, Chase was once again a non-participant on Thursday.
The team has yet to announce if the wide receiver has any sort of injury or when he’s expected to begin practicing.

Could this have anything to do with Chase’s pending extension? Probably not.
More than likely, Chase has some kind of minor issue that the team is being extra precautious with before letting him practice in what could be the most important year of his career. No sense in risking a further injury just two days into camp when the team isn’t even in pads yet.
Of course, that’s not stopping Adam Schefter and others from stirring the pot of controversy.
Ja’Marr Chase is scheduled to make $1 million in base salary this season and $4.86 million overall. He wants a new contract; Mike Brown didn’t make it sound imminent this week. This situation isn’t over. https://t.co/Zsf7GgOQCS

While Mike Brown did make it sound like a deal wasn’t imminent, he also made it clear that a deal would very likely get done. It’s just a matter of when.
“He is a key player. Next to Joe (Burrow), he is the next one,” Brown said of Chase. “He knows it. We know it. This may take a while. We are going to bend over backward to get it done. I can’t tell you when, though.”
So yeah, don’t panic just yet…unless you’re Schefty.
Then, by all means, feel free to keep screaming into the abyss.
