No one can ever accuse Ja’Marr Chase of being bashful.
The Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver playfully trolled the Kansas City Chiefs during the summer and took things up a notch (or several) with his comments Thursday on the KC defense in advance of Sunday’s matchup at Arrowhead Stadium.
“If I’m being honest, nothing,” Chase said when asked what stands out about the Chiefs’ secondary. “They just know how to play us. They know what splits we’re in, they just know what we’re gonna do in certain moments. They throw a little double-double at us to stop the two best players on the outside and that’s all they do. It’s not really like they got a Jalen Ramsey on their side, so not much.”
When asked later if he was concerned about how the Chiefs might receive his comments, Chase made it clear he was not.
“They can take it how they want. I don’t care,” Chase said. “I know what I see on paper and I know what I see in game. That’s why they double everybody. Because they can’t do it 1-on-1. The best player on they team is [L’Jarius] Sneed. Everybody knows that. That’s why they double-double everything they see.
“They know I’m good. They know how to play us. That’s what it is, but it’s not like they got a superstar on their defense.”
Ja’Marr Chase didn’t back track at all when asked about his assessment of Chiefs defense. “They can take it how they want. I don’t care. … I’m not Ironman. I can’t throw the ball to myself. It’s a team sport.” pic.twitter.com/KmnaKIcLYe

Chase missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury, but by the sound of his media session today, he intends on playing Sunday.
The Chiefs and Bengals will kick off at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
