Poor look for the rookie.
Every week this season, Cincinnati Bengals fans have wondered why we weren’t seeing more Jermaine Burton.
After all, the third-round rookie out of Alabama is clearly a big-play threat waiting to happen. But for whatever reason, he’s not been able to play a heavy amount of snaps in a single game.
That appeared to be changing this week with Tee Higgins set to miss a second straight game, giving the Bengals time to build a game plan that saw a bigger role for Burton when the team hosted the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, that plan went out the door Sunday, as Burton was a surprise inactive. And unfortunately, it appears to be because of a big mistake Burton made at some point this week.
As it turns out, Burton missed Saturday’s walkthrough, according to James Rapien. Burton didn’t even call the team to let them know he wouldn’t be there. If that’s the case, then we probably shouldn’t expect to see Burton get a big role in the offense anytime soon, including the team’s Week 10 clash with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
The Bengals are expected to address the matter following their Week 9 contest vs. Las Vegas.
