The QB is very pleased with the WR’s growth.
Tee Higgins missed five games with injury last year. But if there were any concerns that he wouldn’t be willing to put his body on the line in a contract year, they’ve been put to rest.
The fifth-year receiver has made more than his share of physical plays in his four games this season. And his quarterback has certainly noticed.
“When he gets the ball in his hands he’s been lowering his shoulder and getting those extra 4-5 yards, which the way teams play us has been big,” Joe Burrow said.
And Burrow thinks the reason is that Higgins has something to prove. “I think he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder this year,” the QB said. “I think his level of urgency since he came back has been high. He’s been excited about his ability to go out and make plays this year, and he’s continuing to show that he can.”
Burrow noticed the growth he’s seen in Higgins over the years, adding that his “pop up game” has improved a lot since his rookie year such that “You don’t have to hold your breath every time [he gets hit and falls].”
Will Higgins and the offense be able to get back on track and score more than 20 points against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday?
