Joe Burrow delivered a welcome sight to Cincinnati Bengals fans on Monday.
Burrow, who suffered a season-ending wrist injury last November, returned to the field for voluntary offseason workouts. The team posted clips of the star quarterback entering the facility and tossing the football without pads.
“HE IS SO BACK,” the Bengals declared alongside the video of Burrow testing out his throwing motion.
Burrow hasn’t experienced a normal offseason in a while. After undergoing appendix surgery in the summer of 2022, he missed the 2023 preseason because of a calf injury sustained in late July.
Fresh off signing a lucrative extension, Burrow stumbled out of the gate with 728 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two picks in last year’s opening four games for the 1-3 Bengals. He appeared to turn the corner, throwing multiple touchdowns in four straight victories.
However, Burrow fractured his wrist in a Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Monday’s workout represented his first official team preparation in nearly seven months.

In early March, Burrow told reporters he expected to be fully cleared around mid-May. The 27-year-old looked forward to leading Cincinnati to another Super Bowl run.
“I’m excited about the challenge that we have,” Burrow said two months ago, per ESPN’s Ben Baby. “I’m excited about the challenge that I have coming back from injury.
“When you’re injured, your only rebuttal to the narrative is what you put on the field and how you produce, and when you’re injured, there’s no dialogue between the narrative and yourself. So I’m excited to kind of handle that in my own way and get back out there in a much better place.”
