Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been the first to admit that he probably isn’t winning MVP this year, which is obvious given the things that go into the award.
But that won’t stop people from pounding the table for Burrow to win it.
Some of those people aren’t just Bengals fans, either.
Some are big names like Shaquille O’Neal.
“Every time he steps on the field, and he’s playing well, he’s definitely considered the best,” O’Neal told RG’s Crissy Froyd. “If he’s in the conversation, he has a chance to win.”
Burrow’s Bengals missing the playoffs all but ruined his chances of actually winning the award. A shame, considering his hefty 70.6 completion percentage with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns against nine interceptions.
Still, Shaq’s got the right idea. If Burrow can stay healthy and on the field, he’s liable to remain in the conversation each year. And if the Bengals build around him properly this offseason, they could be back in the playoffs in 2025, boosting his chances at the solo award, too.
