The Cincinnati Bengals and Tee Higgins continue to be at a stalemate for the wide receiver’s next contract.
Higgins is currently on the franchise tag but is looking for long-term flexibility and so far, the Bengals have been unwilling to give him that. It even led him to request a trade from the team in March.
On Thursday, he posted a message to his Instagram that read, “I tell em no, they can’t wait to call me selfish.” That was his caption for some photos that he posted for his followers.
Higgins continues to not be present at OTAs as he holds out for a bigger contract. Fellow wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is also not at OTAs for the same reason.
The post has fans wondering what could be next for Higgins since he was pretty cryptic.
“Yeah he’s gone,” one fan wrote.
“Nothing wrong with getting paid. As a Bengals fan, I’m hoping it’s here. However if not, you have earned it and we’ll still watch your career with fondness,” another fan wrote.
“Pay him,” another fan wrote.
Higgins has been one of the best wide receivers in the league over the last four seasons. He’s already compiled two 1,000-yard seasons and has 257 receptions for 3,684 yards and 80 touchdowns.
