Now is the time for NFL players to get in their summer vacations, as it will be training camp time before you know it.
Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow is in Cannes this week, and he’s taking up all that the French Riviera has to offer. Burrow shared photos from his trip on Instagram.
In one that’s been going viral, he’s shown playing chess with a local kid while his friend and former high school basketball teammate, ex-Michigan and Dayton forward Ibi Watson, watched on.
Other photos in Burrow’s post show him appearing on a panel in Cannes, enjoying nature and hanging out with Watson.
Burrow is getting his rest in now before a pivotal 2024 season. The former No. 1 overall pick is coming off a season-ending wrist injury and trying to make sure his health is in order.
Two of Burrow’s first four NFL campaigns were cut short by injury, something he and the Bengals are acutely aware of, which is partly why the team has been giving the quarterback built-in rest days throughout the offseason.
“That’s something we’re being more proactive about this year,” Burrow said recently. “We don’t have to be ready to go in the middle of June. We have to be ready to go early September through February. That’s how we’re attacking this offseason and this rehab plan and these practices and training camp. We’re attacking it like I want to be out there playing in February.”
Cincinnati will open training camp on July 24.
