The Cincinnati Bengals may have to consider trading All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson this offseason.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter just reported that Hendrickson has requested a trade.
Per the report from ESPN, Hendrickson wants a contract extension. If the Bengals are unwilling to meet his demands, he may have to force his way out of Cincinnati.
“Hendrickson is due to make $15 million this season, and is looking for more long-term security than Cincinnati has been willing to offer,” Schefter said.
Unfortunately for the Bengals, they have to worry about two disgruntled players.
Schefter also reported that wide receiver Tee Higgins requested a trade. The Clemson product received the franchise tag earlier this offseason.
Higgins has been a key contributor for the Bengals since 2020, racking up over 3,600 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns.
Just like Hendrickson, the reason Higgins wants out of Cincinnati is because he hasn’t had successful contract negotiations with the front office.
The Bengals are currently in win-now mode with Joe Burrow at quarterback. If they trade Higgins and Hendrickson, however, that’ll change their outlook for the 2024 season.
Suffice to say, the Bengals have some tough decisions to make in the coming days.
