The Pittsburgh Steelers have a big game against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend in a clash that could decide both of their seasons for better or worse. Ahead of the games, the Steelers are making a change.
On Thursday, the Steelers announced that they were releasing running back Anthony McFarland Jr. In four years with the Steelers, McFarland has 42 carries for 146 yards on the ground and another 11 receptions for 87 yards through the air.
This year though, McFarland hasn’t been used much on the offense and has been used on special teams only slightly more.
Steelers fans recognize that their season is on the brink though and were not pleased to find that this was only move that the team was willing to make before one of their most important games of the year.

“Pickens is still gonna play? Dionte Johnson is still gonna play? Chuks spoke out, in a competitive manner, and he hasn’t seen the field since, so instead Broderick the LEFT tackle is now playing on the right side.. release a player who’s rarely given a chance, but has potential?” one user replied.
“Try releasing a guy that has played this season an contributed to the Ls,” another wrote.
“Dam he was actually a good player. Mike Tomlin don’t know talent,” wrote a third.
The Steelers-Bengals game will be Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
