ESPN listed three Wildcats in their top-100 draft prospects.
The Kentucky Wildcats, unlike in years past, had to turn to the transfer portal for the bulk of their roster this upcoming season.
With John Calipari having left and taken numerous players with him to Arkansas, the new head coach in Lexington faced an uphill battle in getting NBA talent to Lexington for next season. Mark Pope, who was at BYU last year, came in and did an excellent job in a short amount of time.
Pope immediately became active in the portal and used the Big Blue Nation allure to bring in multiple top players, including his former standout forward Jaxson Robinson.
While his team is older, which, given the trend of college hoops, should be seen as a positive, he does have ample young and rising stars.
As for what players could make it to the next level, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony released his list of the top 100 NBA Draft prospects, and the Cats had three make the cut.
Koby Brea, a Dayton transfer, came in at No. 69, the highest Wildcats player on the list. Robinson was No. 90, and Brandon Garrison, who came from Oklahoma State, sits at No. 96. Garrison is the youngest of the trio and has ample runway given his lengthy and instincts around the rim.
There are also players like Lamont Butler, Otega Oweh, and Amari Williams to watch out for. They will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in some big-time, high-profile SEC games this upcoming season.
