A big pickup for the Cats!
The Kentucky Wildcats have added a key piece to their offense with the transfer of wide receiver Kendrick Law from the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Law has officially signed with the Cats following a visit to Lexington. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
During his visit to Kentucky, which spanned from Wednesday to Friday, the coaching staff successfully secured his commitment. The former 4-star recruit brings both talent and versatility to a Wildcats team eager to strengthen its receiving corps for the upcoming season.
With Kentucky losing four wide receivers — Barion Brown, Dane Key, Brandon White, and Anthony Brown-Stephens — to the transfer portal, the Wildcats needed to turn to the portal to fill the void in their receiving corps.
Law, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, was one of the most sought-after wide receiver recruits in the class of 2022. Rated as a top-100 prospect by most recruiting services, Law’s athleticism and versatility stood out during his high school career at Captain Shreve High School.
In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, the 5-foot-11, 209-pound Law showed flashes of his potential but struggled to carve out a consistent role in Alabama’s deep and highly competitive receiver room. Over his career, he played in 34 games, recording 33 receptions for 343 yards and one touchdown at Alabama.
This past season, Law hauled in 10 passes for 105 yards and one touchdown on 14 targets while earning a 64.1 Pro Football Focus grade. Of his 312 offensive snaps, 196 came from the slot. He also had eight carries for 30 yards.
Law is also a surprisingly good run-blocker at the wide receiver position, finishing last season with a 67.5 PFF run-blocking grade. His best was a 77.2 mark in 2023.
At Kentucky, Law has an opportunity to emerge as a featured receiver and significantly increase his production. His versatility means he can line up both outside and in the slot, creating mismatches for opposing defenses. Additionally, his experience at Alabama and work ethic will bring leadership and a winning mentality to the Wildcats’ locker room.
Law is also a kickoff returner with 23 career returns 536 yards. He had just five attempts in 2024 for 131 yards.
The move to Kentucky represents a fresh start for Law and a chance to showcase his full potential. Wildcats fans have every reason to be excited about what he brings to the field in 2024.
