Kentucky’s defensive dominance in the transfer portal continues.
The Kentucky Wildcats have secured a significant addition to its defense with the commitment of FCS All-American edge transfer Mi’Quise Grace.
According to KSR’s Nick Roush, Grace committed to Kentucky on Sunday. It came as Grace visited Lexington over the weekend.
The standout defender, who showed greatness at the FCS level, brings an elite skillset and relentless work ethic that is sure to make an impact in Lexington.
A 6-foot-4, 255-pound edge rusher, Grace made a name for himself during his time at South Dakota. This past season, he earned Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named an FCS First-Team All-American, tallying 64 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and three passes defended.
After considering offers from schools like Southern California, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma, Grace ultimately chose Kentucky. Associate head coach Vince Marrow was instrumental in recruiting him, making him a top priority once he announced his decision to transfer.
In high school, Grace also competed in track and field before committing to South Dakota in January 2021. He saw limited action as a true freshman, recording three tackles in four games. His role grew in 2023, when he played in all 13 games, including one start, finishing with 34 tackles. His breakout season came in 2024 when he played a key role in helping South Dakota reach the FCS Championship semifinals.
With the addition of Grace, Kentucky will bolster its already strong defense. The only question remaining is whether the offense has improved after a lackluster season this past year. That’s yet to be seen.
Another massive addition for a Kentucky football program that desperately needed it after what it endured during the 2024 season. Coach Mark Stoops has another defense that looks like it can wreak some havoc in the SEC.
