John Calipari’s departure continues to leave its mark on Kentucky’s roster as another player is set to leave.
According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, Wildcats big man Zvonimir Ivisic has decided to enter the transfer portal. In 15 games for UK, he averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 37.5-percent from deep.
The 7-foot-2 Croatian-born center arrived in Lexington last October after a well-documented, drawn out process that led to a delay in his coming to campus.
Ivisic eventually made his Big Blue debut in January and in that first game vs. Georgia he stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, five rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists.
Ivisic was obviously a big part of the Wildcats’ top-ranked 2023 recruiting class (no pun intended).
Some have speculated that he could be an NBA lottery pick and that was certainly the hope before his late-season arrival.
Now he’ll likely look for another program to call home as he continues to develop his skills for the next level. Whether or not he ends up following Coach Cal to Arkansas remains to be seen but it certainly doesn’t seem like something that would be off the board at this time.
Ivisic joins a growing list of players who are leaving Lexington. Since the end of March we’ve seen Adou Theiero, Aaron Bradshaw and Joey Hart all enter the portal as well, though none of them have chosen a destination yet.
Will any of them be joining Calipari in Fayetteville?
