Kentucky will be a strong favorite at home and must play like it.
Following Wednesday’s practice, I and other media members got the opportunity to talk with Kentucky Wildcats defensive coordinator Brad White, cornerback DJ Waller, and linebacker Jamon “Pop” Dumas-Johnson.
The topic of discussion was the same with every person as they prepare for the Vanderbilt Commodores. It was all about preparing for the unique offense that is all the talk after the Commodores torched the then-No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide.
With Kentucky coming off the bye week, it was given an extra week to prepare for Vanderbilt, which may have been needed. As Brad White mentioned, this isn’t the same Vanderbilt offense that folks are used to.
The Commodores have a new offense, a new coordinator, and a quarterback who has tons of “moly,” in the words of coach white.
White also mentioned that the Commodores are 3-2 but are only a few plays away from being 5-0 and a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.
The players and coach reiterated that the Cats are ready for the challenge ahead despite the Commodores’ hot streak and new offensive.
Another conversation that was had between coach White and Waller was the absence of All-SEC defensive back Max Hairston.
Check out what they all had to say below.
