Three Cats were taken, the highest being the former Oklahoma State center.
John Calipari may be gone, but the Kentucky Wildcats are still going to have NBA Draft prospects.
At least, that’s what Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman thinks.
New head coach Mark Pope’s biggest offseason addition was former Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year forward Jaxson Robinson, who is now expected to be one of the best guards in college basketball this season.
Robinson and two others were named in Bleacher Report’s most recent two-round mock draft.
The first one taken in the column was former Oklahoma State center Brandon Garrison, who was selected at No. 39 by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here’s part of what they wrote on the defensive mastermind.
“He’ll now look to stand out on a Kentucky roster full of transfers who haven’t played together. Garrison’s game doesn’t scream scoring potential, but scouts could see a useful role player for the next level with his effectiveness inside, vision on post-ups and short rolls and shot-contesting,” Jonathan Wasserman penned.
Koby Brea was the second Wildcats transfer off the board, being taken by the Indiana Pacers at No. 48. The third and final was Robinson at No. 49. Brea came from Dayton with Robinson joining Kentucky from BYU.
The Cats will tip off their season on November 4th when they face Wright State. Their first real challenge will take place on November 12th when they face the top-10 Duke Blue Devils at State Farm Arena.
This season will be a pivotal chance for many of these transfers to bolster their hopes of making it to the NBA one day.
