The Kentucky quarterbacks split another SEC game for the second week in a row.
Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats have dropped to 1-6 in SEC play with a 28-18 loss in Knoxville to the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Wildcats entered the night without announcing an official starter at the quarterback position, but Brock Vandagriff got the nod.
The staff seemed to be planning to play both early, but Vandagriff and the offense looked good on their first few drives.
The Cats jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after Vandagriff found a wide-open Josh Kattus for the first score of the evening.

The offense moved the ball down the field on numerous drives in the first half with Vandagriff leading the way.
But that changed after Brock left the game due to a head injury and was replaced by Gavin Wimsatt. He actually went to the hospital and returned to the game, trying to get back in, but to no avail.
Stoops says Vandagriff went to the hospital tonight, came back and wanted to go in, but wasn’t cleared.

Wimsatt came out slowly, throwing a crucial interception that was nearly returned for a touchdown. Tennessee still found the end zone due to that INT and went up two scores.
After that mistake, Wimsatt seemed to settle in a bit and dropped a perfect throw to Ja’Mori Maclin for a much-needed touchdown.
The two quarterbacks were unable to get over the hump and led the Cats to another massive road win this season and only combined for a total of 192 passing yards.
The run game moved the ball well, but Vandagriff and Wimsatt’s two interceptions were the difference in tonight’s game.
For yet another week, the Cats are disappointed and leave a game with more questions than answers. Thankfully, a much-needed bye week is finally here.
