In four years of college hoops, Jaxson Robinson has played for three different schools. But after seeing his prospects in the NBA, Robinson has decided to join a fourth one rather than go pro.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Robinson has decided to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft pool. Instead, he will be committing to the University of Kentucky.
“BREAKING: BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson is withdrawing from the NBA draft and will be committing to Kentucky, he told ESPN,” Borzello wrote on X.
The 2023-24 season was Robinson’s breakout year. As a member of the BYU Cougars, he averaged 14.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, earning Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year honors.
For his career, Robinson has averaged 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, though he barely played during his first two seasons with Texas A&M and Arkansas.
Now though, Robinson is heading back to the SEC, where the competition is more fierce and the chance of really becoming an impact player on a national level is more pronounced than it was at BYU.
It certainly helps that the Wildcats have hired Robinson’s former coach, Mark Pope, to be their head coach. That surely increases the odds that Robinson at least gets a chance to play more next season.
