The 5-star shooting guard still has Kentucky on his list of potential programs.
The Kentucky Wildcats have been trailblazing a new future under the leadership of Mark Pope. With several signatures win over teams like Duke and Gonzaga in his first season, Pope’s Cats have gotten off to a strong start on the court.
He’s also been on the recruiting path as well, and one name to keep an eye on is 5-star shooting guard Caleb Holt, who has Kentucky among the programs he’s been in contact with.
Holt gave an update about his recruitment recently and discussed how Kentucky is fairing compared to other schools. He’s primarily been in contact with UK assistant Jason Hart.
“I talk to Jason a lot like every week so the relationship we have is great. Sometimes it’s about basketball and sometimes it’s about whatever I am doing in that moment. Me and my dad will be talking to coach Jason or sometimes it’s my dad talking. He just be seeing what I am doing and I am seeing what he’s doing. We’re both basketball-heads so we talk about basketball and the games that’s going on and their game. They have been winning some big games lately. Coach Mark Pope came to my school to talk to me, we got on a Zoom call and he wants me, he thinks I am a guy he can see at Kentucky, a guy that can win a National Championship,” Holt said via 247 Sports’ Travis Branham.
Holt is the No. 4 overall prospect in the class of 2026. He’s been talking to a plethora of teams and numerous blue-blood programs. Kansas, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Baylor, and many other programs are in the chase for the future star.
Holt, who already stands 6-foot-5, is the No. 1 shooting guard and No. 1 player from Georgia in the class. The Cats visited Holt on Sept. 4, 2024, and gave him an offer on July 25, 2024.
Back in 2023, Holt told Burner Ball that a reclassification into 2025 was possible, but there’s been almost no mention of that since then, so expect him to remain in 2026 for the time being.
