Will Kentucky win out, or will North Carolina swipe him?
The Kentucky Wildcats still appear to be the favorite to land Caleb Wilson, one of the top-ranked prospects in the class of 2025, but the deal isn’t done yet.
Wilson, ranked as the fifth-best player nationally by 247 Sports Composite, is among several 5-star talents having yet to choose a collegiate program.
A while back, Wilson said he planned to make his college choice in December or January. With the month of December almost over, Wilson has now confirmed to On3’s Joe Tipton that a decision won’t come until January.
In addition, Wilson asked, “Where is home?” on Twitter while quote-tweeting Tipton’s report.

Wilson has been offered by just about every major program, including top-ranked Tennessee. Kentucky has been seen as the clear favorite for quite some time, but North Carolina is charging as well.
“In speaking with sources, this recruitment likely comes down to UK and UNC. Many people think Kentucky is the overwhelming favorite, but I recently had a source tell me they believe the race is actually much closer. The way my source explained it was Kentucky 51%, and North Carolina 49%,” Tipton wrote in a recent recruiting article.
At 6-foot-9, Wilson has the size to be a strong rebounder, and he’s already proven that he’ll be able to become one of college hoops’ best scorers. He’s finishing up his high school ball with Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta.
Here’s a part of what the scouting report said about Wilson.
“Wilson is an athletic and wiry four-man with significant two-way tools. He has continued to grow and now has positional size at 6-foot-9 along with a 7-foot wingspan, 9-foot standing reach, and a rangy, elastic body type. He’s gradually filing out a naturally leaner frame, but is extremely mobile for his size and able to cover the court,” Adam Finkelstein of 247 Sports wrote.
