For the first time in 15 years, the Calipari family is going to have to move, taking their home from Lexington, Kentucky to Fayetteville, Arkansas. For John Calipari’s daughter Megan, it’s a fond farewell.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday morning, Megan Calipari posted a series of photos of her family living together in Kentucky during her father’s tenure with the Wildcats. She had a heartwarming message for them all as well (plus a slight dig at her sister Erin).
“You don’t get to choose your fam but if you did I’d choose mine (even though some of them are mean @theerincalipari )🖤🖤,” Calipari wrote.
Kentucky fans in the comments are still pretty upset to see Calipari leaving after so many years of building the program:
“I’m just heartbroken, I feel like I’ve had a death in the family. Your family did more for this state way beyond basketball. Wishing your family a wonderful journey filled with love and happiness!” one user replied.
“You don’t get to choose your coach, but if I did, Coach Cal and the Calipari family would still be in Lexington. Rooting for you in every game. But one. You’ll be missed,” wrote another.
“Love this family. We will truly miss your family. You did a lot for the people of KY. I will always cheer for the Caliparis,” a third wrote.
Now Coach Cal and his family get to be a part of the latest chapter in the storied history of Arkansas basketball.
We can’t wait to see it.
