Sounds like the Cats have a real chance with the top-10 recruit.
The Kentucky Wildcats have a busy weekend ahead as they welcome a pair of 5-star players from the class of 2025 to Lexington for their official visits.
One of those players is forward Chris Cenac, a name that has become quite familiar to the BBN.
And he might be a name that the fanbase continues to hear for the foreseeable future.
According to a report by Jamie Shaw of On3, Mark Pope and Kentucky are very much in the picture with Cenac, who is ranked as high as No. 5 overall in the 2025 class by On3.
Here is what Shaw had to say about the visit, which begins Friday.
“Sources around the recruitment have told me that Kentucky jumped in head first with their recruitment of Cenac. One source close to the recruitment told me that assistant coach Alvin Brooks was at “every game” that Cenac played this summer,” says Shaw.
“In speaking with sources around the recruitment, I am told that Cenac has responded well. Sources reiterated to me that, heading into Cenac’s visit process, Kentucky was among the top schools in the picture.”
Obviously, things get tricky in this one after some momentum has been gained with 5-star forward Caleb Wilson. At the moment, it seems like the Cats are right at the top (if not the top) school in his recruitment coming off his official visit two weeks ago, and now, with Cenac coming in for a visit, the question becomes: can they play together?
Ultimately, that decision will come down to the players and whether the staff can sell them based on the vision of suiting up next to each other.
The Kentucky staff will also have to fight off the hometown LSU Tigers and several other high-major programs, including Houston and Auburn, to land a commitment from Cenac.
There is still quite a way to go in this one. Let’s see if Coach Pope and his staff can hit another home run this weekend with these visits.
