Kentucky is closing in on a new hire to replace John Calipari.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the school is targeting BYU’s Mark Pope to be the new head coach.
It has everyone going crazy because Kentucky’s message boards are going to be on fire.
“the spaces and the #BBN message boards are absolutely unhinged at this Kentucky hire it’s about 10 to 1 hate…and that’s really bad,” a tweet read.
“Can’t wait to see these Kentucky message boards,” another tweet read.
“Kentucky message boards are going to hit different,” another tweet read.
“To the Kentucky message boards I go,” another fan tweeted.
Fans are going to be upset at the hire but they should probably give him a chance to see how he does. Sure, it’s not the “sexy” pick, but if Pope does a good job, those same fans will praise him in no time.
Pope has been BYU’s head coach for the last five seasons and has taken the program to the NCAA Tournament twice, including this past season. BYU finished the year with a 23-11 overall record.
In five seasons at the helm, he went 110-52.
