The grind continues in the SEC.
Greetings, BBN!
January was an up-and-down, roller-coaster month for the Cats, but at the end of it, they have emerged 4-3 in the conference.
While they lost to Georgia, #4 Alabama, and Vanderbilt, they not only won four SEC games to maintain a winning record but recorded all four of those against top-15 teams! That’s right: #6 Florida, #14 Mississippi State, #11 Texas A&M, and #8 Tennessee is their collection of conference victories heading into February, with road losses in the only unranked teams they’ve played!
Here’s the schedule ahead for February, along with some predictions and thoughts below:
Kentucky Basketball February Schedule

Predictions:
- The Cats are not as safe against Arkansas as BBN would like to think. The Cats have their weaknesses that the Hogs can exploit, just as Ohio State, Georgia, and others have. But I think they’ll still pull it out. Don’t be surprised if it is close, though. Also, don’t be surprised if it is a 20-point blowout.
- Ole Miss and Alabama I reckon will be the most difficult games for the Cats to win this month, and I’m predicting a loss in each of them. The way those teams play, combined with hostile crowds, will make life extremely difficult for the Cats.
- It’s too bad both Oklahoma and Texas are road games this year for UK. I think the Cats can beat both of them, but given their road woes against unranked teams, I think they’ll drop one of them.
- Chalk up a win for the Cats in the Tennessee rematch. The Vols get swept and aren’t going to be happy about it.
- Kentucky will not make the same mistakes twice when the Vanderbilt rematch comes. Also, they will not do what they did two years ago and lose an embarrassing home game against last-place South Carolina.
- February record prediction: 5-3.
