Boogie Fland is headed to Kentucky.
The five-star point guard from Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.) and the PSA Cardinals on Friday chose the Wildcats over Alabama and Indiana. He is ranked No. 18 in the Class of 2024 by ESPN.
“I chose Kentucky because of the history of success with the guards that have come through there,” Fland told On3. “Coach Cal is going to challenge me to be the best version of myself. He didn’t promise me anything, playing time, shots, etc. He only promised me a chance to compete and fight! The first fight is with myself every day and I’m betting on me! BBN BABY, LET’S DO IT!”

The 6-foot-3 Fland was courted heavily by all three schools, and Indiana was very close but in the end he could only pick one school.
Kentucky’s tradition and history combined with coach John Calipari’s track record of producing NBA guards — from Derrick Rose to Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley — played a key role.
“Boogie is a talented guard who can play on and off the ball,” Stepinac coach Pat Massaroni told ZAGSBLOG. “He can create his own shot while getting others involved.
“He will bring a winning mindset and culture to Kentucky and someone who loves to compete and is driven to succeed.”
Said Terrance “Munch” Williams of the PSA Cardinals:
“Boogie is one of the most skilled guards in his class. He has one of the top IQ’s in the high school game and you will not find a better shot maker in his age group. He is battled tested and is more than prepared to play both sides of the basketball from day one in college. That young man is locked into his process and has a bright future ahead of him. Congrats to him and his family for doing such a great job with his development off the court.”
Fland is the 28th player from the Stepinac program in the last eight years to go on to college basketball.
