Big one on deck.
Another transfer portal visit is set, and it’s a big one for the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to Travis Branham, Indiana Hoosiers forward Mackenzie Mgbako will visit Kentucky on Wednesday.
A former 5-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American in the class of 2023, Mgbako has spent the last two seasons with the Hoosiers after originally being committed to Duke. He was ranked 10th overall and second among power forwards in his class while holding additional offers from Kentucky, Kansas, Auburn, North Carolina, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, UConn, and UCLA.
This season, the 6-foot-9, 222-pound Mgbako averaged 12.2 points on 43.7% shooting (32.9% on 3s), 4.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. As a freshman, he averaged 12.2 points on 39.5% shooting (32.7% from deep), 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest.
Mgbako primarily played the 4 spot this season after playing the 3 spot heavily during the 2023-24 season, so he’d give Kentucky depth at multiple spots.
Will be interesting to see how the visit goes and if Kentucky ends up on BOOM watch.
