Former Kentucky men’s basketball player Jodie Meeks has been named to the 2024 Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame class.
Meeks was a star player for Norcross (Ga.) High School prior to coming to Kentucky. He went on to play in the NBA for 11 seasons and won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.

Meeks also reached the highest level in his sport as an NBA player for 11 seasons, which included a 2019 NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors. He was a second-round pick of Milwaukee in 2009, and had his best NBA season in 2013-14 with the Lakers, averaging 15.7 points.
The 6-foot-4 guard entered the NBA after a decorated college career with the Kentucky Wildcats, highlighted by a school-record 54 points in a 2009 game against Tennessee. He also made a school-record 10 3-pointers in that game that season, and earned All-SEC and All-American honors.
As a high schooler, Meeks was the Daily Post Player of the Year as a senior in 2006 after leading Norcross to its first state title in boys basketball. He scored 32 in the state finals and averaged 28 points in five state playoff games. He also excelled in track and field with a long jump best of 23 feet, 9 3/4 inches to win the 2006 region title.
Meeks is now an assistant coach for the Birmingham Squadron in the NBA G League.
