How about that?
Kentucky Wildcats fans are enjoying a good laugh this morning as former offensive coordinator Liam Coen has jumped ship yet again from one program/team to another, this time deserting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coen was reportedly hired as the next head coach of the Jaguars, despite pulling his name out of contention just recently AND agreeing to a contract extension with the Buccaneers.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was all over the situation late Thursday afternoon and followed things into the evening.
A reverse: Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen is in Jacksonville, meeting with the Jaguars one day after agreeing to stay in Tampa on a deal that would have made him the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator.

Buccaneers have had no contact today with Liam Coen or his representation. The team has made multiple efforts to reach him and has not. Coen is in Jacksonville discussing a deal to become the head coach.

Jacksonville fired general manager Trent Baalke earlier this week, and that seems to be when things changed regarding Coen’s interest in the franchise. He’ll now take over one of the worst teams in the NFL a season ago and will be tasked with reviving the young career of former No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.
Coen will also be the coach of former Wildcat and Pro Bowl edge Josh Hines-Allen.
One might consider this entire development a wild situation, but Kentucky football fans would tell you this comes as no surprise. Coen’s second departure in three years from the program left plenty of Big Blue Nation unhappy with their former OC, and they have not forgotten about it.
