He will retire from ESPN’s College Gameday in August.
A broadcasting legend is calling it a career once college football season begins.
ESPN’s Lee Corso — longtime college football analyst and former college football head coach — will retire from the network’s “College Gameday” show in August.
“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” Corso said in a statement released by ESPN. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”
He will turn 90 later this year and has decided that it’s time to move on from television.
Having been with ESPN for nearly four decades, Corso has served as a personality so many college football fans look forward to watching every Saturday morning during the season.
When the cast goes to make their individual picks for the slate of games each Saturday, Corso putting on his team’s headgear will be deeply missed by so many.
The change to College Gameday won’t be the only change the show has seen over the last few years when looking back at the recent additions of Nick Saban and Pat McAfee.
Kirk Herbstreit has worked with Corso since 1996 and had kind words to say following the news of his long-time friend. You can find the full story from ESPN here.
