Friday Headlines: SGA is Scorching

He and the Thunder are on a tear.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is on an all-time heater over the last five to six weeks.

The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar has scored at least 50 points three times in the last 15 days while playing less than 40 minutes in each of those outings.

For perspective, no one in the history of the NBA has scored 50 points three times (while playing less than 40 minutes) in a 30-day span.

The frontrunner to win MVP is averaging 36 points per game in 2025, and he’s getting his points at an incredibly efficient rate, shooting well over 50% from the field.

His play is also elevating other members of his team, as they are 13-3 in 2025. The Thunder are running away with the Western Conference, too, as the second-place Memphis Grizzlies are six games back from the top spot.

When Gilgeous-Alexander was with the Kentucky Wildcats, did anyone predict he would be this good? He’s become an incredible leader and ferocious scorer while also contributing on the defensive end.

Every time SGA laces up to take the hardwood, he is further making his case as NBA MVP.
