The 2025-26 Kentucky Wildcats roster is just about set with Denzel Aberdeen in the fold, but there are still a couple of decisions to be made.
The first is the potential return of Otega Oweh, who is testing the NBA Draft waters and may not reach a final decision until the June 15th withdrawal deadline.
Then, there’s the potential for the roster rules to be changed. Currently, it’s 13 scholarship players to go with a handful of walk-ons, but the House settlement could change that to just 15 total players.
That may explain Monday’s news that Kentucky walk-on Grant Darbyshire is entering the transfer portal. ESPZYN broke the story first.
The 6-foot-2 Darbyshire joined the Kentucky roster ahead of the 2022-23 season under John Calipari. The Cincinnati native will be a true senior next season with one year of eligibility remaining, though he didn’t play at all in Year 1 while nursing an injury, so there’s a chance he gets an additional year.
This past season, Darbyshire was inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character, the highest honor a University of Kentucky athlete can earn. He’s appeared in six career regular-season games, recording no statistics.
Best of luck to Darbyshire as he searches for a new home!
