What a win.
The Kentucky Wildcats kicked off their postseason late tonight as they faced off with the Oklahoma Sooners in Nashville for the second round of the SEC Tournament. After a game with plenty of fireworks in Norman, the same thing happened tonight at Bridgestone as the Cats leave with an 85-84 win.
To kick off this game, you could not have asked for a better start for the Cats. A quick 8-0 run led to Bridgestone Arena and the BBN really flexing its muscles. However, the Sooners bounced off the ropes to get right back in this thing, and that was helped by Lamont Butler leaving with a shoulder injury and never returning
Kentucky would land a few punches, then Oklahoma responded to close the lead to a one-possession game. Luckily for the Cats, they squeaked out a lead heading into the half, 40-38.
Coming into the second half, the Cats started to show some separation from the Sooners, but Porter Moser’s squad would not go away. With several jabs to get out of the corner throughout the final 20 minutes, the Sooners took the lead with five seconds remaining. Then Oweh put Oklahoma’s hopes of winning to bed with another game-winner.
It wasn’t the prettiest win, but the Cats survived tonight and will now face off with Alabama in the quarterfinals.

Game MVP
There are several guys we could give this award to tonight, but I think we need to recognize Otega Oweh.
He finished with 27 points on 8-14 shooting and 2-3 from deep. He also added five assists and four rebounds.
He did it a few weeks ago in Norman, and he took over once again tonight in Nashville. All season long, Oweh has risen to the challenge. Whether this team needed him to take over scoring, ball handling, or even turn up the intensity on defense,e he has done it with flying colors each time.

Think about Otega Oweh’s two game-winners versus Oklahoma… You won’t find two tougher degree of difficulty short shots. Amazing that he made both.
