A huge home win for Kentucky.
The Kentucky Wildcats returned to Rupp Arena tonight as they welcomed the Texas A&M Aggies to Lexington. In what was another physical battle for the UK team, they knocked off the Aggies, 81-69.
If you like clean basketball, well, you might not have wanted to watch the Cats’ first half on Tuesday night. The Aggies controlled the tempo of this game for the entire first half, forcing the Cats to shoot just over 30% from the field in the first 20 minutes.
However, a late run after the under-four timeout helped propel Kentucky to a lead heading into the locker room, 35-32.
In the second half we saw Kentucky really start to play their game. Primarily not allowing the Aggies and Buzz Williams to play the game at the pace they really needed it to be played at. The Cats were impressed with their defensive effort in the final 20 minutes but really saw the shots start to fall as the game came to a close.
Add another tough and gritty win to the resume. Making it even sweeter was it ended the Aggies’ two-game winning streak in the series after sweeping the Cats last season.
Now, the Cats’ attention will turn to Alabama, who they’ll welcome to Lexington on Saturday as the UK looks for another top-five win. The Tide are coming off a home loss in a top-25 battle with Ole Miss, so they’ll be hungry for a bounce-back win over Kentucky. Gotta make sure they leave Lexington with a two-game skid.
Go Cats!

Game MVP
It was a tough game on both ends of the floor, with a few players entering the conversation with their defense this evening. However, the Cats won’t win this game without Jaxson Robinson’s offense.
He finished the night with 22 points on 8-17 shooting and 5-13 from deep. He also added eight rebounds, two assists, and a block on the night.
For the second game in a row, Robinson has finally started to show that offense ability we saw last season in Provo. With the 3-ball falling and more opportunities coming at the rim, he continues to rise and elevate Kentucky’s ceiling throughout the season. Add in his aggressive play on the glass, and all is clicking in Lexington.

Lamont Butler can get punted in the face but God forbid Jaxson Robinson point a finger at his old coach after making a big shot
