What a game from the Cats.
The Kentucky Wildcats returned to action tonight as they welcomed the Lipscomb Bisons to Rupp Arena. After a week off, you could tell the Cats were prepared from the jump after racing by the Bisons, 97-68.
Coming out in the first half, the BBN got a good look at what the things this team do well. Same can be said for the staff. From the opening tip, the Cats not only impressed on the offensive end but maybe more surprisingly locked down on the defensive end. Add in both of those factors and Kentucky opened up a huge halftime lead, 43-26.
If you had fun watching this game in the first half, then you also absolutely loved the second half. The Cats showed off their efficiency on both ends of the floor, shutting down a good Lipscomb offense and continuing to show how potent they are on the offensive end of the court.
With Jaxson Robinson, Otega Oweh, and even Lamont Butler going off on the offensive end of the floor, there just aren’t many teams that will have an answer to knock off this squad if they are this prepared each time out on the floor.
Quite the impressive win for the Cats tonight. Is it Friday yet?

Box Score
MVP
The Cats had several players who impressed tonight, but overall, we have to give this one to Jaxson Robinson.
He finished the night with 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting, including 3 of 6 from deep. He also added seven rebounds.
Robinson struggled last week against Duke, but he responded exactly as you want, whether you are the coaching staff or even a fan. Not only did he replicate his effort and solid play on the defensive end, but he also scored the ball at an efficient clip without forcing it.
If he can figure out the offensive side of the court outside of Rupp Arena, there might not be five better teams than the Cats in the country.

I haven’t had this much fun watching a UK team play since Pope was on the court wearing a uniform. For those who are old enough to have experienced that year…. you know what I’m saying….

Lipscomb HC Lennie Acuff says he did not meet Mark Pope until tonight and is ” tremendously impressed.”
Says Kentucky is the best power conference offense he’s played in his time at Lipscomb.
