Where will the Cats be seeded?
As Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats look to gear up for a deep March Madness run, it’s that time of the year when we’re treated to an early preview of the 2025 NCAA Tournament bracket.
The NCAA Tournament Bracket Preview will air at 12:30 PM ET on Saturday, February 15th. As usual, it will not be a full bracket, just the top 16 seeds as things stand today.
Since the NCAA has started doing this, the preview show has generated some early excitement for the upcoming March Madness while giving teams an idea of where they stand in the eyes of the Selection Committee.
If Joe Lunardi knows what he is talking about in his Bracketology, we should expect to see Kentucky in the preview. Lunardi currently has the Cats as a 3-seed…and a potential first-weekend matchup with John Calipari and Arkansas. This is in the South Region (Atlanta).
Blogging the Bracket’s Chris Dobbertean also has the Cats as a 3-seed in the East Region (Newark).
CBS Sports has Kentucky as a 3-seed in the South Region.
USA Today Sports has Kentucky as a 4-seed in the East Region with potential matchups vs. 5-seed Wisconsin and 1-seed Duke just to make the Elite Eight.
Finally, Bracket Matrix, which rounds up all the projections across the internet, has Kentucky earning the second-to-last 4-seed, just ahead of Rick Pitino and St. John’s.
Michigan State, Kansas, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Iowa State are among the teams ahead of Kentucky if you’re wondering which teams losing could help the Cats’ chances of rising up the seed lines.
It’s worth noting that Kentucky was not in the top 16 seeds of last year’s show, then did enough down the stretch to climb into a 3-seed, so this reveal is far from the final NCAA Tournament bracket.
