Johnson will soon make his college choice. Where will it be?
Jasper Johnson is now down to five schools, and the Kentucky Wildcats have made the cut.
On Wednesday, Johnson trimmed his list to Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, Louisville, and Alabama.
But that’s not all.
According to Travis Branham of 247 Sports, Johnson plans to announce his college commitment in late August.
Johnson also shared these comments on Kentucky’s pursuit of him.
”Mark Pope gives me the good message of being the hometown kid,” Johnson told Branham. “He is consistent with me. He tells me what he wants me to do and how I can fit his offense. He really wants to coach me, and he wants to start his 2025 recruiting class with me. I met the staff and got to see them practice, so it was good. He likes to take 3s in the offense, and he wants me to come in and score the ball.”
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Johnson played at Link Academy in Branson (MO) this past season after previously playing for Woodford County High School. He has since announced a transfer to Overtime Elite for his senior season.
It’s no secret that Johnson is a very important recruit to Kentucky. He grew up in Versailles, is the son of former Kentucky football star Dennis Johnson, and is one of the best players overall in the class of 2025. He ranks 12th at 247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN, while On3 has him 15th.
Johnson was at Rupp Arena on Tuesday to watch La Familia take down Herd That in The Basketball Tournament.
At this time, Alabama and North Carolina are viewed as Kentucky’s top competition for the Bluegrass native.
