One day after losing game 3 of the College World Series and hammering a reporter in the postgame press conference, Jim Schlossnagle resigned and took a new job at Texas.
“I think it’s pretty selfish of you to be asking that question to be honest with you,” Schlossnagle said in a fiery response when a young reporter asked him about the Texas job. “I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again…and that hasn’t changed in my mind.”

After losing the CWS last night, Jim Schlossnagle called a reporter “selfish” for asking him about the Texas opening.

Schlossnagle met with fans when the team returned to College Station. Then, shortly after, notified his AD that he is out the door:
“After our baseball team arrived back in College Station earlier today, Jim informed me of his desire to leave Texas A&M,” Aggies athletic director Trev Alberts said in a statement. “While we are certainly disappointed, we are grateful for his contributions in helping our baseball program reach unprecedented heights. Baseball success is important to everyone associated with Texas A&M, we will not stop in our pursuit of excellence and our commitment to baseball will not waiver.”
It would seem that there is no question that Schlossnagle and his staff knew of the move DURING the College World Series.
