Can the Cats pull off the massive road upset?
The Kentucky Wildcats continue to spiral in the wrong direction as their losing streak was extended to three following their 24-10 loss against Auburn on Saturday night.
Not only are the Wildcats winless at home in SEC play but their three game losing skid has come at the hands of three unranked teams. Vibes are bad in Lexington with head coach Mark Stoops showing the look of defeat on both the sidelines and at the podium.
ESPN’s Football Power Index isn’t giving Kentucky much hope either, estimating Kentucky has less than a 10% chance of winning on Saturday.
To put it mildly, Kentucky just isn’t doing anything well on offense, defense or even special teams and injuries to key players on both sides of the football are starting to add up.
Quarterback Brock Vandagriff was essentially benched at halftime of the team’s loss to Auburn, and while QB Gavin Wimsatt poses more of a dual-threat attack, he wasn’t able to put any points on the board in two full quarters of action.
Combine Kentucky’s QB struggles with the fact star wide receiver Barion Brown is on pace for his worst season as a Wildcat and you’re left with Dane Key trying to do everything he can to help his team move the football.
Needless to say, it’s not a good spot for the Wildcats as they head to Knoxville for a road matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers. It’s also Tennessee’s Halloween game, so combine that with the fact that the Volunteers are playing the Wildcats, and everyone wearing the ugly orange is licking their chops.
Here’s a quick glance at what’s on deck for Kentucky at Tennessee.
