A fun way to kickoff basketball season!
The Kentucky Wildcats gave a preview to the fanbase and the college basketball world on Monday night as they welcomed in pro scouts from across the NBA to their 10th annual pro day.
As we kick off the Mark Pope era in Lexington, the BBN will really get their first look at a brand-new roster for the Cats. This week’s pro day and Big Blue Madness will give fans a brief highlight of what this team could look like as we inch closer and closer to the season tip-off on November 4th.
As the Cats showed off their shooting, pace of play, and focus on defense, it’s obvious it is a new era for UK basketball. Coach Pope has his squad bought in to the offensive philosophy, and it’s obvious he has the players to make it effective.
It will be a learning curve for sure, even during the exhibition games. But one thing is for sure… it’s going to be a fun season.
Now, let’s take a look at Twitter to see how they reacted to the Cats Pro Day.
Good to see John Robic back at UK. He’s scouting for the San Antonio Spurs at UK’s Pro Day. pic.twitter.com/0a6eKaXq9E

Mark Pope runs every practice possession with a 12 second shot clock.
I don’t think any of us are prepared for how fast this team is going to play

This Kentucky team doesn’t miss many shots.

Andrew Carr might surprise a lot of people this season.

Travis Perry. Still automatic from deep.
It’s crazy to witness every time I watch him.

Kerr Kriisa comments in his interview with Dick Gabriel that “3 is worth more than 2.”
He, along with many of his teammates, are going to live by that philosophy this season.

Some 5-on-5 scrimmaging begins…
* Blue Team is Butler, Brea, Carr, Garrison, Perry
* White Team is Oweh, Kriisa, Robinson, Williams, Noah
Chandler/Almonor rotating in for Perry/Noah

Looks like the new walk-on working with Kentucky during pro day is Zachary Tow.
He wars No. 20 and looks to be joining Walker Horn and Grant Darbyshire as one of three walk-ons this season.

In live 5-on-5 action Kentucky’s offense is structurally looking like what we saw from BYU last season. Playing through the 5-man at the top of the key. Spacing. Zoom Action. Ball movement.
The defense feels constant pressure with this level of movement.

This graphic is crazy to think about…
845 total games played
8,000 total pointsIn 122 seasons in program history, this is the most experienced Kentucky team ever. pic.twitter.com/MDnFzvUqYl

Andrew Carr’s ability to rebound and start the break will really unlock some transition/secondary opportunities for Kentucky this season.
The way he moves around as a 6’11” forward is really special.

Kentucky Basketball Pro Day is in the books.
First and foremost, it is FUN to see these guys on the floor. Basketball is right around the corner!
It is a fool’s errand to have REAL takeaways from events like this, but one thing I will say is I am slightly more encouraged about…
