Kentucky (8-2) came up with some clutch plays down the stretch to overcome No. 9 North Carolina 86-82 Saturday night in the CBS Sports Classic in Atlanta.
North Carolina fought back to take a 72-71 lead on the Wildcats with just over five minutes to play. Kentucky quickly retook the lead at 73-72 on an Aaron Bradshaw layup and didn’t look back on the way to a huge win.
Rob Dillingham led the Wildcats in scoring with 17 points. D.J. Wagner chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Aaron Bradshaw finished with 12 points, including some clutch free throws late. Reed Sheppard came off the bench to contribute 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
