“Mark Pope ain’t f***ing around!”
Sturgill Simpson — you may have heard of him — a Grammy Award winner out of Jackson, Kentucky, will always represent his Kentucky Wildcats, even if that means doing so in the heart of Razorback Country.
During a concert for his ‘Why Not’ tour, which took him to the Walmart Amphitheater in Rodgers, Arkansas, Sturgill had to poke the bear now that former Kentucky head coach John Calipari is now calling the hogs.
Introducing his band members, Simpson gave a simple ‘Go Cats’ to his drummer — that was met with thunderous boos.
Sturgill then doubled down saying, “Don’t be mad, don’t be mad. You had your chance, Calipari’s gone. Now get ready to get that ass whooped. You know what’s coming, I’m just saying,” Sturgill said.
“Mark Pope ain’t f***ing around!”
We knew there would be bad blood between Kentucky and Arkansas coming up, but I’d venture to say most people wouldn’t have had Sturgill Simpson, of all people, throwing the first punch.
Sturgill, you truly are one of us.
