The Cats are bringing in eight top-200 players.
The Kentucky Wildcats might be coming off a down season, but they still know how to recruit.
Couple Mark Stoops’ previous success with the Cats being an SEC program, and it’s clear why a slew of young players looking for a new home have sought out Lexington. The Kentucky program had immense issues, mainly on offense last season.
That said, the Cats are adding numerous transfer portal players to their roster next season, and two of those players, Mi’Quise Grace and Alex Wollschlaeger, are top-100 prospects per On3’s rankings. Grace comes in at No. 69, transferring from South Dakota. From Bowling Green, Wollschlaeger is sitting at No. 94.
Kentucky has six others that have ultimately cracked the top 200 players in the portal, including No. 114 Josh Braun, No. 144 Shiyazh Pete, No. 149 David Gusta, No. 162 Tru Edwards, No. 167 Dante Dowdell, and No. 168 Kendrick Law.
That will hopefully add some depth to the roster, one that finished with a 4-8 record last season and an awful 1-7 record in SEC action. The last three seasons have been brutal actually, ending with a 3-5 SEC record in each of the prior two.
Stoops has had some good seasons, and with a plethora of incoming talent, he should be able to bring back the Big Blue Wall, especially with Braun, Wollschlaeger, and Pete.
Replacing some key defensive players who will ultimately be drafted in April may be easier said than done, but the Cats will have the talent to compete in the best conference in America.
