Mark Pope and his staff have been hot on the recruiting trail this week, looking to position themselves to bring in a solid transfer class this upcoming season.
With plenty of names being mentioned (and some potentially not having much interest at all from the Kentucky Wildcats) the BBN is hungry to start reeling in some commitments. A few players are approaching “BOOM” territory, but a big name has just recently been contacted by the UK staff.
According to Tristan Pharis, Kentucky has made contact with Jacksonville State guard Jaron Pierre.
A 6-foot-5 and 188-pound guard from New Orleans, Pierre spent just one season playing for the Gamecocks, but his impressive performance this year earned him Conference USA Player of the Year Honors. He finished the year averaging 21.6 points on 42.4% shooting from the field and just over 38% shooting from deep. Pierre also added 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
In talking with Pharis, it appears that Pierre is “definitely” interested in Kentucky, as things potentially could begin to ramp up.
After missing on a few of the guard targets and things still seemingly too early with Silas Demary Jr., the UK staff is looking to reel in another star to join the backcourt next season. Pierre could be a perfect fit for just that.
